China Shop Bull
Fronted by a rapper with a Yorkshire accent and and an aggressive singer who is simultaneously technically brilliant on guitar, backed up by a powerful brass section and a mathematically precise rhythm section. The old adage of 'has to be seen/heard to be believed' has never rung truer than with China Shop Bull. Yes they combine elements of hip hop, punk, ska, drum and bass and reggae. But the point is that they do so with excellent musicianship and and incredible energy!
That's right kiddies: everyone's favourite babyhatin', nana-skankin' Bradfordian Bard is back for another showdown with all that is shite, on yet another leg of 'The longest slowest tour wi the most gaps ever', which Hotknives has sustained for over a decade. Prepare to have your sanity forcibly restored by El Capitano's satirical sermons and sharp-witted sea shanties in an as-per-usual totally brimmers Working Mens' Club. This maverick renegade takes no prisoners in his hilarious deconstructions of the life of a Northern soul, and is full of advice for the rest of us: 'Don't smoke weed in front of your mum', a recent song points out. Wise words indeed – just remember that whatever goes down when the Cap'n's around, the pigeons made him do it
